Byte.sg joined community partners and tech innovators at VivoCity for the annual Digital for Life Festival roadshow at the shopping mall next to HarbourFront MRT Station. Organized by the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA), this flagship nationwide initiative plays a pivotal role in Singapore’s digital inclusion strategy, inviting citizens of all ages and backgrounds to discover, explore, and experience digital technologies firsthand.
As an organization dedicated to making digital literacy accessible, Byte.sg was proud to anchor an interactive exhibition booth designed to demystify technology and inspire the next generation of digital creators.
Bringing Technology to Life
The Byte.sg showcase focused on experiential learning, translating complex technical concepts into tangible, engaging activities for the public. Visitors to the booth were introduced to the fundamentals of coding and programming logic through hands-on demonstrations.
To bridge the gap between software and real-world application, the team featured an interactive robotics course. Participants had the opportunity to program and navigate a mini robot car through a custom-built obstacle course. This practical challenge allowed visitors—from young children to curious seniors—to see their code come to life in real time, fostering an immediate sense of confidence and curiosity in STEM disciplines.
Empowering the Community Together
The success of public outreach events of this scale relies heavily on grassroots support. A dedicated team of Byte.sg volunteers stepped forward to spend their Saturday afternoon facilitating the activities, guiding visitors through the challenges, and sharing their passion for technology.
By participating in national platforms like the Digital for Life Festival, Byte.sg continues to expand its reach, breaking down barriers to technology education and contributing directly to Singapore’s vision of an inclusive digital society.
Our heartfelt thanks to IMDA for hosting us, and also to our volunteers whose energy and expertise turned digital curiosity into meaningful inspiration for hundreds of public visitors.
